In Between.

The words come to mind, reminding me that we are neither here or there. It’s the feeling of being stuck in the middle.

It brings back the memory of being in charge of picking up an ice cream cake. It wasn’t just any ice cream cake.

It was the wedding cake.

I arrived at the specialty store and the cake was brought out to me. It was frozen, naturally, but that was here. I needed to get it to there, which was about a 30 minute ride; and I did not want that it should even begin to soften never mind melt.

The ride seemed so long, longer than the expected thirty minutes. I could not check the cake to see what was happening with it. And for those thirty minutes, the cake was neither here (safely frozen at the store) nor there (safely in the freezer at the destination).

I was stuck “in between”. I could not change a thing. It was necessary to keep moving.

  • Only as I kept moving could I arrive.
  • Only as I kept moving could I arrive at my destination and the promise of relief (a freezer).
  • Only as I kept moving could I arrive to the place where I would be in safety (our cake will not melt).

Life is like that, don’t you think? I hope you will join me at Woman to Woman Ministries HERE where we will look at those “in-between” times in life.
