Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Access.

Access – “the ability, right, or permission to approach, enter, speak with, or use; the state or quality of being approachable” (dictionary.com).

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, NASB)

We have been given access to the very ear of our God, who attentively and faithfully, hears our cries for help. In the back of my Bible, I have written this quote which has often brought such assurance:

“Speak to Him, thou, for He hears, and Spirit with spirit can meet.
Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.”
(Alfred Lord Tennyson)

We have been given access to the very throne of grace because our God is approachable. He longs for us to come to Him for it is there we receive mercy and find grace in our times of need.

Come to His throne.
Speak to Him and find grace,
for we have been given access to our approachable God.
