Instead of ekeing out a hand-to-mouth existence on special dispensations of grace, he is laying up over the years a permanent overplus, out of which to bring forth things new and old. From such experience he can, of need be, speak the mind of the Spirit without the overweening consciousness of being God’s immediate oracle.”

I like how that translation is worded – to listen as a disciple. Plenty to ponder just in that phrase. Nee’s description of a “wealthy Christian” is wonderful – love it! Ky, I am so grateful Watchman Nee’s words are blessing you as well. The devotional is a very old one which my dad passed on to me and it is a treasure of wisdom and encouragement.
I love the thought that we’re laying up an “overplus” of treasure in God’s Word as we read it day by day, that the Holy Spirit can then remind us of.
It was such a descriptive word. We are storing up for when we need it, making God’s Word a treasure to hold onto.
