Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Reach.

One line of a song came to mind upon reading the word prompt:

“When Your love reached down with sovereign handsAnd beckoned us to come …”

A quick look at the dictionary tells me “reach” is defined as “to get to” or “to come to.”

Either way, the Savior reaches out to each one of us. He continues to pursue and call to us until He reaches into the depths of our hearts and we respond. He will get to and come to His own.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3, NASB)

“You have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.” (Romans 8:15-17, NASB)

He does not leave us helpless, nor hopeless, or alone.
He persists time and time again
until He reaches us and makes us His own.
