For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-4, NASB)

“What does it mean to walk after the Spirit? It means two things. First, it is not a labour, it is simply a walk …

And, secondly, to “walk after” is to follow. It implies subjection, for is He not in the lead? To walk after the Spirit is to be subject to the Spirit in all things. The initiative of life must hereafter be His. There is one thing the man who walks after the Spirit cannot do, and that is run ahead of Him!”
