We pray because we must. That is it in a nutshell.
Life is hard with its ups and downs. It is unpredictable, shifting, changing, unknown, uncertain. We pray because there is One who is greater than life, does not shift, is unchanging, knows all things, and is utterly dependable.
Prayer somehow brings us into the very Presence of God, but it also brings comfort, peace, and assurance that we are not alone.
Prayer brings the realization and the admission, there is more to life than meets the eye or that we are aware of. Yet there is none of life which escapes the eyes of God or that He is not aware of.
Prayer is a profound mystery and we do not understand it all. We do not need to understand it all. We only need to do it every day, and some days, all day long.
We worry about any number of situations. We struggle in the tensions of decision making. We become fearful or concerned for those we love.
“Concern makes us do something to ease the situation. It moves us to take constructive action. But worry burdens our minds and bodies without helping us to find a solution to the problem. Worry is like racing the engine of an automobile without putting it into drive. You burn energy, but you don’t go anywhere.”
(from God Is My Hiding Place, Corrie Ten Boom, page 26)
This is where the beauty and preciousness of prayer enters. Join me at Woman to Woman Ministries HERE as we continue talking about why we pray.
