Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Sustain.
The dictionary tells me that ‘sustain’ means “to support the weight of; to buoy up; to bear under” (merriam-webster.com).
That sums it up so nicely and the verse comet to mind:
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. “ (Hebrews 1:3a, NIV)
If “all” means exactly that – all – then this means He sustains each one of us by His Word. To take it even further, He speaks over our lives every day, perhaps all day long.
May we make time to receive from Him The Word which will sustain us. May we approach each day asking Him to show us something new in His Word and about Himself.
Each day
may we turn to God’s Word,
for it is His Word which will sustain us.
