“Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy!” (Isaiah 35: 1-2, NLT)

The words are sitting in front of me now for probably fifteen minutes as I stare at them. I am not sure where life may find you this morning, perhaps sitting in brokenness or in the middle of the most beautiful time of your life.

We all experience both at varied times of our lives.

I return to read the words once more and this time, I hear the words shouting in my head:

“New life!”

Looking out the window, the sunshine is bright, only a few puffs of clouds in the sky but even those are full of promise.

Now don’t get me wrong – I know it is chilly outside still. In fact, the weatherman informed there is a 30 degree swing in temperature from yesterday. Here is what I know ….

  • Yes, the ground may still be hard – YET.
  • The grass is not yet growing – YET.
  • There are no buds on the trees – YET.
  • No crocuses are breaking through – YET.

But our God turns the most desolate of situations and seasons into a full blown garden.

Life changes.
Hope grows.
New life does surge forth.
Spring is coming!
