Sometimes on Friday, I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Sight.

Sight is seeing what is in front of you. At times, it is factual and other times, it can be an illusion, what others want you to see and think.

The desire of my heart for many years has been for insight.

Insight >> “the ability to understand people and situations in a very clear way : the ability to discern deeply and acutely” (from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary).

The Bible calls it discernment.

The disciples were walking along on a road when Jesus joined them. He continued with them, going to their home and breaking bread with them. It was in that moment, the breaking of bread, their eyes were suddenly opened and they recognized Him.

“Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32, NASB)

It was the moment they moved from sight to insight. Their eyes were opened to see truth. When we gain insight, our minds, too, will grasp and understand what was hidden from us till then.

When sight becomes insight –
it will
define and change our lives,
and we will never be the same.
