“What really matters to you?”
The question loomed before me in an email. For a few days now, I have opened the email, read just the question, and closed the email. It was not an email that required a response.
Other than the response of my heart.
Really, what does matter to me?
No matter what happens in life. No matter whether circumstances are hard or easy. Happy or sad. Challenging. Motivating. Encouraging.
Whether facing a time of success of failure. Health or illness.
There is only one thing that matters to me. And my prayer is for my children to know it. Not just with their heads but with their hearts. With all their being. I pray that it is written with indelible ink. A spiritual tattoo of sorts.
“Then I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be glad because he rescues me. With every bone in my body I will praise him: “Lord, who can compare with you?” (Psalm 35: 9-10, NLT)
I want my children to know God is the most important relationship in my life. My desire is that He be the most important relationship in their lives. That they know there in none that compares to Him.
May I rejoice in Him.
May I praise Him with every bone in my body.
Today my prayer is for Him to be the uncontested love of my life so they may see Him in me. May they then desire Him above all others in life. I am discovering the answer to that question …..
He is all that truly matters in this life.

Me too Joanne,
I have been reading Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman (excellent) and The Circle Maker by Matt Batterson (not finished yet but excellent too). May we continue in persistent prayer for our families.
Blessings,
Janis http://www.janiscox.com
Janis – I loved The Circle Maker. I have not read the other book but will now add that to my “to read” list. Praying that we will always persist in praying about all things!
Yes, Joanne, yes. You have prompted me to pray for my girls in that way this morning. Even though they’re, in many ways, further ahead in maturity than I’ll ever be. Faithful I can be in my prayers …
A mother’s work is never done, is it. Even when her babies are in their mid-30s.
* sigh *
Right there with you as mine are now both married š May we keep praying for their lives to please Him in all ways. So glad you stopped here today!
May He continue to be enough for me today! Blessings to you! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart
Yes! May we desire God above all. Knowing that He is the love of our lives, this is what really matters. Beautiful post!
I am so thankful that when we delight in Him, He gives us the desires of our heart — which usually circles back to HIM. HE is the desire of our heart when we choose to delight in Him. I have found that this is most evident to those around us that we think aren’t paying attention.
Keep praying. Keep growing. š Thanks for linking up at New Every Morning!
This is my heart, or really prayer, too, friend. Thank you so much for sharing your heart on this and for linking up at New Every Morning. š
Amen, sister!
Thanks for linking up at Thought-Provoking Thursday. š
yes! This is so good!!! Thanks for sharing xoxo He is ALL that matters!
I hear you, that is on my mind often. I might not get it right when it comes to parenting, but if I can make sure my kids know my Savior and how I rely fully on Him, I’ll feel I’ve done my best.
Thank you for sharing on Cozy Reading Spot
Marissa
May God grant us success in our desires! That is my prayer today for us both! Blessings.
