3. Joanne One Word 2016- 500x500-1

These early days of spring with Jocelyn have been very eye opening as she takes in the surprises of spring. With eyes opened, we are able to take in the grandeur of creation all around us, beauty our eyes might miss on a good day.

But there’s more – we see our Creator.

“Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things,
Who brings out their host by number;
He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might
And the strength of His power; not one is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26,, NKJV)

In looking up, we are reminded …

  • of God’s great power and His strength.
  • He alone has put the stars in place.
  • He calls them by name.
  • and not one is ever missing.

We only need to go beyond ourselves, to the world around and above us, to realize the many ways our God is reaching out to us, His people, every day.

For days, I have looked at this verse, realizing there was yet more. I pulled the commentary off the shelf and read:

“Although there are thousands upon thousands of stars in the many galaxies of the heavens, because of God’s great power, not one of them goes missing. God made, named, controls, and cares for each of them.” (New American Commentary, Vol. 15b, page 119)

That would be amazing in and of itself and yet, there was more. God’s care for each of the stars is meant to remind us, perhaps shout out to us even:

“If God can keep track of a million stars across the broad heavens, certainly he can keep track of every one of his chosen people.”

In the vastness of all that is, He has not forgotten you nor disregarded you.
He is keeping watch of you for He sees you,
every minute of every day.
