Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … More.

The word “more” brings the thought of greater, to a higher degree, or a higher quantity.

The psalmist comes to a point in life where he continually notices the ungodly experiencing success. He asks the question, did he keep himself pure and follow God’s ways for nothing?

It’s a question that reveals the struggle of the heart and the doubts we all may experience at some time.

But when he lifts his gaze and meets with God, he comes to see that these doubts only stir him to desire and seek God more, with greater intensity.

“Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything else on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart, he is mine forever.” (Psalm 73:25-26, NLT)

He remains with us, even as we may question and doubt, holding our hand and guiding with His counsel and wisdom. The Lord takes us through our troubles and circumstances, giving us more of His Presence to assure us He is with us in the midst of it all.

We come to desire Him more than anything else,
and the desire grows more and more.
