When I was asked if I would be willing to read and review, Be Still and Trust by Stacey Pardoe, I said yes without hesitation. My desire was to help a fellow blogger share her book with others.
But little did I know it was the book I needed.
Stillness is defined as “freedom from agitation”, or “absence of movement.”
The pace of life makes it virtually impossible to be free of either agitation or movement. Busyness has become the trademark of most of our lives. Between distractions and a plethora of daily activities, being still can evade us.
Be Still and Trust brings a reset. In this book, you will find fifty devotions designed to help us make a habit out of being still each day. And that is so it. We must be intentional in stilling ourselves to hear from God.
In this devotional book, you will find fifty readings which will guide to stay focused on God’s presence with us each day. Each reading is a reminder of the way God desires to meet with us on the pages of Scripture.
Some of the topics covered are:
- trusting God ion the unknown
- the purpose of quiet time
- how to make wise decisions
- peace in life’s battles
- exchanging worry for trust
Having worked my way, in the quietness of my mornings, I found the book encouraging, bringing a quiet and restful start to my days. You will too.
Be still
and discover rest
and renewal in God.
“God calls us to set aside quiet moments in his presence because he wants to connect with us.”
(Stacey Pardoe)
Michele Morin’s post, Living with Peace of Soul and Firm Conviction, brought a powerful and borrowed prayer. The words were strengthening and comforting. They also remind us all – “Nothing that happens today (or any day) will come as a surprise to God.”

Such an encouraging review Joanne, indeed God’s voice can only be heard in the stillness.
Blessings, Jennifer
We need so much to be still before the Lord. It’s hard to do these days—it probably always has been. But once we make it a habit, we realize how vital and wonderful it is.
I so agree with you, Barbara. We need to be intentional about stilling ourselves before the Lord. For me, the mornings are so precious.
Thank you for the book recommendation, Joanne.
My joy as the book has truly encouraged me as I have been working my way through it.
Stacey has done it again! This one is in my pile and I am so looking forward to it!
(Thanks so much for the feature!)
You are most welcomed! I have shared that post with more people since reading it. It was most encouraging to me and others! Bless you as you read and write!
Looks like a needed read. Thanks for sharing!
I am so glad God is not surprised–that perspective is so life-changing. The quest for stillness is so important–and so elusive. The stillness filled with God takes intentionality–I am in a season trying to do that. I think the process is much like the yardwork we just did–lots of sawing limbs, pushing things back and even removing that have invaded spaces it was not planned for–and then maintaining. Changes are planned – switching out some shrubs for another, pulling out fast-growing ground cover that behaves like a weed. Sometimes, I think, in order to find stillness, there needs to be a lot of pruning:)
Sounds like a book for our times! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Same here Joanne. Little did I know I needed to read and hear what Stacey had to say too. I love how transparent and vulnerable she is. I felt like I was sitting at the table having coffee with friends.
I love how God brings us words that He knows we need in His perfect timing! This sounds like a lovely devotional. I’ll be keeping it in mind for gifts, too.
Thank you so much for sharing this book recommendation, Joanne! It looks like the perfect summer devotion and mornings at the lake!
❤️ I love that! And yes it would be. I have very much enjoyed the encouragement from the book and the shorter pace. So it would be perfect for summer! Blessings!
Thanks so much for the feature, Joanne! You are a wonderful source of support and encouragement to me in so many ways!
