Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Part.
Upon seeing the prompt, the Scripture quickly came to mind.
We admire knowledge. In fact, we chase after it, pursue it. Nowadays, we have so much information at our fingertips which can be a good thing. But it can also be to our detriment.
We think we know everything. We tend to fall prey to thinking we are smarter than we are.
Our knowledge is limited. We only know in part.
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.”
(1 Corinthians 13:9-12, NASB)
We tend to see life from one perspective. The problem is our perspective may not be clear or right. Our opinions can be foggy, skewed by our emotions, or what we have read or watched. There can be more than what meets the eye, so in actuality, we only see in part.
May we be wise and seek wisdom and clarity of thought from God’s Word. May we be perpetual learners and our teacher be the Holy Spirit.
One day, when Christ returns,
we will no longer know in part,
but fully.
