Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Pivot.
My first thought was, “What can one do with this word?” So I looked it up in the dictionary for some help. Reading the definitions, it was the third one which grabbed my attention.
Pivot >>> “a usually marked change” (from merriam-webster.com).
I sat looking at these words which I had just typed for some time. One thought came:
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19, NASB)
Pivot.
Turn your life around. Get back on course with the Lord.
Change your mind about the direction of your life.
Look deeply at the purpose for which you are living.
Then you will find yourself refreshed and renewed,

Today I am joining Five Minute Friday .
I used to play golf, and would still if I were able.
Pivot brought to mind divot, the scar placed upon the grass by a previous player’s swing.
Finding your well-struck ball in a divot is a bummer. Gotta play it, but you never know where it’s gonna go.
Hence, a bit of doggerel, since I have two dogs sitting on my feet as I write this.
When Kate said pivot,
I thought divot,
where you don’t want your ball to lie.
Your attention you must rivet
if you want the ball to fly
to a place of your intention,
and not to rough too thick to mention.
