Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Timing.
So much is shifting and changing, making everything feel so unsure and unstable. Scripture tells me He has appointed both the place and the time for each of us to live.
“And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation.”
(Acts 17:26, NASB)
Those words bring the reminder that I need to accept that He has ordained for me to live in the middle of whatever is occurring in our families, our community, our country, or our world.
All the circumstances of my life, and yours, are under God’s sovereign control. The events He permits are all filtered through His lovingkindness and require that we trust Him in all things, at all times.
All of our lives are being orchestrated by God who holds the time and the timing of every occurrence in our days. In this, we can find rest and peace in trusting Him.
We often forget the Lord keeps His promises. We think He moves on our time when in reality, He has His own timetable, His appointed time.
“But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:8-9, NASB)
Our God works in His own time and not by our time.
He is not slow,
for He is the God of both time and timing.
