I don’t usually post twice in a day but … today is different.

We’re waiting for a baby to come. And she’s almost a week late. I know, I know … not a big deal as many first babies are late.

But the wait is hard. And we’re eager for her arrival and for her to be safe and healthy.

Then I read this verse:
“Dear brothers & sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.” (James 5:7-8, NLT)

Waiting patiently – this is the ultimate solution. It is what keeps us from giving up. It keeps hope alive that today may just be the day.

Two things in these verses this morning:
  1. The focus is not on the crop but on the farmer. Our posture before God matters.
  2. The farmer is able to wait patiently because he knows the wait till be worth it.

What are you waiting for God to do, and remedy, and change? What wait has been long in coming? I’ll be praying for all of you today because I am setting the rest of the day aside to pray. Join me?

May we patiently wait.
For the wait will be worth it.
