Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Loved.

Heading to the kitchen for a cup of coffee waiting for me in the pot, the thought comes, “She is ten days old today.”

In ten short days, she has stolen all of our hearts.

I find myself talking to her each time I hold her, rock her, feed her a bottle, or simply look at her. It doesn’t matter if she is awake or asleep. I still talk to her telling her little things about her new home, her mommy and daddy, her Poppy and I. When the noise above us is heard, I tell her that one day she will be able to run and have fun with her cousins.

I rock her, rub her soft beautifully shaped head, planting gentle kisses and say, “I want you to know I love you!”

More than wanting to inform her about her world,
I want her to know she is deeply loved.

With those thoughts, the verse comes to mind. I wonder how many times I have read the verse for it is familiar one. How many times have I failed to realize it has been spoken over me? Over each of us?

“Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3, NLT)

If I, as an earthly mom and Mimi, longs for my children and grandchildren to know that I love them, how much more does the Lord, our heavenly Father, long for us to know He loves us?

Everlasting love.
Unfailing love.
He longs to love and draw us to Himself.
Loved.
