Blogging is a unique form of writing as it can often be like reading one’s personal diary. Thoughts and emotions are processed through the journey of one’s words which invite others into the journey.

Susan Chamberlain Shipe is no newcomer to blogging and has authored over twenty books. Her latest, The Best of Hope Heart Home 2020, is a gem as it takes us through a year of many transitions and new experiences.

There are ninety six readings sure to stir your heart to think and ponder many topics. Susan writes from her heart, discusses many issues as they unfold, and shares God’s truths without wavering.

You may, or may not, agree with her on every subject but you will always find love, grace, and mercy extended. You will always find yourself provoked to dig deeper. You may even find yourself doing a bit of soul searching which is excellent for the soul.

From road trips, tiny home living, the pandemic, the election, racial tensions, and to Scripture, Susan writes without fear or compromise to God’s Word. You will laugh and cry along with her as she shares personally.

Some of the gems I discovered hidden on the pages of this book were on gardening:

“As gardeners, we had to KNOW our soil.  We invested our hard-earned money in quality seeds and we wanted to KNOW the dirt would receive the seeds and would have the right nutrients to cause them to grow, take root, and produce a harvest. Critically important for the success of the garden!

As sowers of the Word, the quality of the soil is not relevant to us – we just plant the seed [The Word of Truth]…” (from page 135)

And from the Five Minute Friday word prompt, “Stay”:

“We are living in precarious times. Times of fear and threat … Do I have what it takes to STAY?

To stay faithful and true to what I know is True and Eternal?

I pray for StAYing power. I pray to have courage. I pray to be brave.” (from page 144)

Susan asks this question in one post:

“Can anything good come out of 2020?

Lets make the rest of 2020 good. If you never have participated in Advent, maybe this year would be a good time to start. Let’s celebrate every single possible thing … for those of us who are Jesus followers – let’s rejoice as we’ve never rejoiced before …

Can something good come from 2020? Absolutely, we serve the King of kings – we are Kingdom people – let’s live like it!” (from page 280)

The book is filled with hope and encouragement and photos sure to be enjoyed by all!
