“For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12, NASB)
“Sometimes, like Paul, you cannot see the sun or the stars to help you navigate when the storm is bearing down on you. This is when you can do only one thing, for there is only one way. Reason cannot help you, past experiences will shed no light, and even prayer will bring no conclusion. Only one course remains: you must put your soul in one position and keep it there.
You must anchor yourself steadfastly upon the Lord. And then, come what may – whether wind, waves, rough seas, thunder, lightening, jagged rocks, or roaring breakers – you must lash yourself to the helm, firmly hold your confidence in God’s faithfulness, His covenant promises, and His everlasting love Christ Jesus. (Richard Fuller) “

Sometimes holding on is all.we can do in a storm. Thank be to God, we are held.
Some days a physical helm to lash to would be nice, but still nice to know who is holding on to us throughout storms. Uplifting reminder. Thank you.
Yesterday my second born daughter and her family, (which means four of my eight grandkids), moved to the east coast. Shortly after our very teary goodbyes the words of an old hymn popped into my mind-“He hideth my life in the depths of His love and covers me there with His hand.” Through all of life’s stormy days I can say that His hand truly has held me fast.
What a vivid description! We’ve all had those times in life when all we can do is cling to Him and His truth while the storm raged.
Amen and amen! The devotional, Streams in the Desert, has gotten me through many challenging times! Thank you for sharing!
Love this explanation of what it is like to anchor your soul!
