“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” (Luke 6:31, NASB)
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6: 36, NASB)
These two Scriptures sit like bookends and get right to the point. We are to treat others as we have been treated by our God – with grace and mercy. We are not to treat them as we think they deserve.
The people around us need to see us living this out. Our actions are more powerful than our words.

Today I am joining …
So often I’ve heard the first verse misquoted as “treat others the way they treat you.” So not true–the exact opposite, in fact. Treating others with the same grace and mercy that God shows us offers an opportunity to let His light shine.
Such important reminders–people seem to forget them when online or discussing certain topics.
Our church just started reading Deuteronomy this week. The commentary I was reading said the key verses are the admonition to love God and our neighbor–as it says in the NT, that sums up all the law and the prophets. I found it interesting that, according to this commentary, Jesus quoted more from Deuteronomy than any other OT book.
I love the book of Deuteronomy as it offers so much guidance in how to live.
