Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Strong.
As I sit on vacation with my family, I am thinking about the past sixteen months. It has been months of facing changes, transitions, isolation, disinfecting, vaccination updates, and health challenges.
The months have brought some stress, worry, fear, tears, joy, and the unknown. The way we all go to work, church, shop, school, and do other seemingly innocuous activities has changed over the course of time.
God’s people have faced times like these before. Sure, the challenges and difficulties may have varied but overcoming obstacles has always been a part of life’s journey.
Moses, in speaking to God’s people, prepared them for the days which would be before them. He was over a hundred years old and knew his time as their leader was coming to a close. God had also informed him he would not be entering the promised land along with all of them. Moses said:
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”
(Deuteronomy 31:6, NASB)
God never promised us a life of ease, He did not promise us a life without challenges. He never said the future would not hold difficulties.
However, He did promise He would always go with us, never fail us, or forsake us.
He promised us His Presence in all things, at all times.
And as we remember this,
we can be strong and courageous.

Thank you for your efforts!
It has changed! Thank you for the reminder that God knows and we can trust His way into our new, unforeseen times.
I am constantly reminding myself and in the reminding, I find my peace.
Yes! The promise that He is with us always is the only way we can truly strong!

Kym, keep holding onto His promises, for He is faithful and in Him, we will remain strong.
When the pandemic first started, our church was reading in the minor prophets where God actually sent pestilences sometimes. I don’t know if He sent this or just allowed it, but either way, I know He wants to use circumstances like this to increase our trust in Him.
