“Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.”
(Habakkuk 3:17-18, NASB)
“Habakkuk witnessed the collapse of most of what mattered to him. Yet through the loss, failure, and disappointment, he was able to distinguish between what was precious to him and what was transitory and empty. He came to the point where he could sincerely say that even if everything around him failed, he still would rejoice in God.
His praise might not come easily … but he would praise God nonetheless … Habakkuk could not make the fig trees produce figs …. but he could control his own response to God. He chose to praise the Lord.
Do things seem to be falling apart around you? You can still praise God.”

Today I may be joining … Scripture & a Snapshot .
What a testimony Habakkuk left for us!! Even when there seems to be nothing good going on around us, God is still good. I hope that if/when I’m faced that kind of hopeless circumstance in my life that I will remember to praise God.
Beautiful. Always and always praise the Lord. We do not know what treasures he has in store for us. Also, I love the word rejoice.
Praise nonetheless! That’s certainly not our default, but it’s a powerful testimony to our belief in God’s goodness. I’m learning to love Habakkuk!
