Mountains – AKA, difficult situations – are faced by each one of us at one time or another. Mountains are those circumstances which seem impossible and unyielding to change. And yet, God asks us to believe that He alone is able to move them.
In her latest book, Made to Move Mountains, Kristen Welch delivers an inspiring book which will challenge its readers to climb those mountains because God is with you and will make the way.
The book is a reminder of how God is glorified in the midst of difficulties and is always at work on our behalf and for our good.
It’s a call, a challenge to remember how God positions us exactly where we need to be to hear Him, to see Him at work, and to grow us in Himself.
“God sees us, He knows where we are and what we are doing. He pursues us. He prepares us. He puts people in our paths. He pushes us out of our comfort zones and puts us in places where we can hear Him.”

He does so to call us to lives that matter and will make a difference. He invites us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and for the benefit of others.
As we face mountains, we most often pray for God to remove them. But what would happen if we prayed, believing and trusting, the mountain is there for purposes beyond ourselves and to help us grow, grow a greater faith.
Maybe the mountain is not meant to be a blockage or obstacle but instead an opportunity to be used in the future and in the life of someone else.
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.” (2 Corinthians 1:4-6, NLT)
Each chapter is both encouraging and challenging as it closes with a section titled, “Mountaintop Moment” and several questions to think and journal.
I really enjoyed the book and the reminder God uses all things in the lives of His people:
“God comforts us in our hard and heartbreaking seasons, and he brings good from the bad in our lives. He is refining us. It may not happen in the way we want it to, but God will move the mountains in our lives.”
